A Teacher out of the Box....
My name is Christina Nunez and I have taught fourth grade and fifth grade in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I graduated from the University of New Mexico with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Education with a Spanish minor, and later with my Masters in Elementary Education. I hold a Level III teaching license with a TESOL endorsement.
I taught at Barcelona Elementary School for 8 years, at Zuni Elementary School technology magnet school for 1, and I have taught 4th and 5th grade at 7 Bar Elementary School for the last 5 years. I currently teach 4th grade. Prior to teaching I was a substitute educational assistant. Children are in every aspect of my life. I am a teacher during the day, I am a mom in the evenings, and I am a Sunday School teacher on the weekends. I am an enthusiastic, caring educator whose primary goal is to never stop growing as a teacher. I love to incorporate a variety of different educational methodologies into my teaching, while still maintaining my own “voice”. I love to create activities that are hands-on, engaging and exciting for my students and my children, but are still challenging. At my core I am highly motivated, driven and determined. I am not afraid to implement a pilot program or to try something "outside the box." I pride myself on redefining and expanding my experience to be a better teacher every year. I love to incorporate technology into my classroom so I have created this website in order to venture out into the globe and share my ideas about teaching.

A little about me
5I married my high school sweetheart and we are still immaturely and ridiculously in love 15 years later. We have a 10 year old inquisitive and bossy daughter, and a 6 year old rambunctious and analytical son. My hobbies are making creative art projects for my students, baking with my daughter, teaching Sunday School, creating theme parties, reading young adult books that I can use for lessons, catching up on the DVR when I can, and collecting everything I can Disney.

Visit this page to see my current personal reflections on teaching. This is a way to share, collaborate and communicate with other teachers around the world in order to grow, reflect and question my teaching using today's technology.
Classroom Design
This is an overall page dedicated to the setup of my classroom with sub-pages on classroom environment and classroom management.
Classroom Environment
This page discusses the different philosophies I have embraced when setting up my classroom and to give others ideas about classroom environment. I have worked at three different schools, so the classrooms are all different but you can see how they are different environments but they same overall design.
Classroom Management
Different classroom procedures and routines that help free up more time for academic instruction.
Classroom Instruction
Rotations (Previous Years)
How my previous grade level team taught subjects. We leveled our reading and math classes into emergent, nearing proficient, proficient and advanced levels. Each teacher also taught one subject area (science, social studies, writing and study skills) to all fourth grade students.
Reading
The different reading programs used, how my class is set up for literacy and my classroom library, and my experiences teaching the emergent students.
Math
Information about our math program, engaging students with the Promethean board, and my experiences teaching the proficient students at my previous school, and teaching an all inclusion classroom with intervention students.
